Pictures from the race follow the standings. Thanks to Brian Teague, for some of his great pictures, that are included!

Thank you Brian for all your work over the year AND great pictures!

We were blessed with some awesome running weather! Overcast, a little damp and NO bugs.

Darrel Lasell sent this great write up of his race and how he got started, thank you Darrel!

Prospect Mountain Road Race is a race that brings back memories of 35+ years ago when our family used to drive the scenic toll road to the top for a picnic and to see the views of Lake George.

Back then I drove my truck up and never imagined that there were a crazy bunch of runners who would actually race up the 5.67-mile toll road with 1601 feet of elevation.

But back in 2016, after running RTTTOVT I saw that Fred Ross had a race series that I could do to earn an early sign-up to do the MWRR in NH.

So, I consulted my running buddy and we made plans to go to Lake George and run up this Mt.

Back in 2016 I was still very new to running, but finished with a time of 1:02, 6th in AG and 60th overall. I was hooked. I have made the nearly 3 hour drive every year since.

This year my friend Jim Flint from West Rutland said he was curious. He is my age, but a much faster runner, occasionally setting course records for his AG.

I made arrangements to leave home at 5 am to meet up at his house and drive over to NY.

I rained most of the way over but cleared up as we got to Lake George. It was still damp and in the 40s.

We grabbed our bibs and drove to the top of the mountain to stage the car, and caught a ride down with Nancy who was helping another gal drop a car.

Once back at the bottom, we did a little warm up and I had a chance to visit with my mountain goat buddies.

As we neared 9am, Jim and I shed our jackets and got ready with 125 other mountain goats (crazy runners).

Jim got a good start, and was off out of sight. I was a little slower.

After the halfway mark I was able to pass a few and slowly gained on a couple others. I was feeling good and maintained a steady pace.

When I got to the top I was surprised to see that I was 2nd in AG (out of 14) with a time of 1:06 and Jim was first in AG with a time of 52:34 (amazing).

We took some photos and grabbed some of the delicious baked goods and visited with my crazy friends.

Christine and the Adirondack Runners put on a great race.

Next year will be my 10th running and I am already looking forward to it.

Darrel "enjoying" his run up the Mountain!
