Thank you so much to Joe Vigor and Brian & Freddie for some of the additional pictures and Rose Long for her race report!!! 😊

“I drove up Friday night in a huge thunderstorm with thunder and lightning streaking across the sky while simultaneously illuminating the atmosphere.

The drama convinced me I would be strong for my race.

And when I footed the start-line at the base of Mt. Ascutney, I was content and calm.

I had run into Fred and he told me about other series participants, so I felt like I was in good company.

The access road starts with a strong but invariant slope, but not as steep as Mansfield.

After a half mile, I started my walk-run transitions.

My style is to select places on the pavement where I would run.

I hope every time to do less walking and more running.

I got passed by a lot of people including someone wearing sandals.

Drizzle turned to rain about half way through.

Fifty and raining is not my favorite weather, but it was ok to run in.

At the water station, I got some Gatorade and felt a lot better.

After 2.6 miles, the slope slacks off.

I ran more to the finish which snarls up steeply.

I was happy when I crossed the finish line in 55 minutes.

After grabbing a granola bar, I realized I was going to be cold, so I asked a fellow racer to hop into their car.

Luckily, I stayed warm and got a lift down.

All in all, I had a major endorphin good feeling, and my legs were tired.

I'm looking forward to Mansfield!”

Congratulations to Eric Blake & Alana Sonnesyn on their wins!
