Mount Greylock Road Race - Series race 4

Before I talk about the race, I just want to point out some of the reasons I’m staging this series. It’s about providing a venue for folks that like this kind of running, meeting others with the same interests, and having FUN is also a big part of it J Another reason is to help raise funds to support our US Mountain Running Team members. Even if you don’t do any of the races, you can still contribute and will be recognized in the final results as supporters. If you do one or more races you’ll be listed. If you do 4 or more, the best 4 scores will be totaled to determine placement. There won’t be any great prizes, possibly none at all.  I hope, however, you will get a warm fuzzy feeling just knowing you’ve helped our U.S. athletes represent us when they put it on the line @ World’s. To be listed/scored, just  donate $10 (or more if you wish) to the American Trail Running Association…

Laurel and I pose with RD Carol Meader after the race atop Beautiful Hackers Hill in Casco, Maine. Awards were on the summit and winners were awarded homemade pies…yum! There were a lot of other prizes that were given out by random draw. A very nice race indeed! Thanks to Carol and the MANY volunteers for a fun time!!!
Laurel placed 3rd in her age group here and earned 55.91 points for a two race total of 111.31 points. She is quite excited about the 3rd race, the Race to the Top of Vermont that takes place on Sunday, August 25th on the Famous Mount Mansfield Toll Road in Stowe, Vermont. It is 4.3 miles in length rising 2,564’ from a starting elevation of 1,279’ up to 3.843’. Laurel Shortell leads Series

Laurel Shortell, right, became the first person to enter the Northeast Uphill Mountain Series. She did so by making her tax deductible donation to ATRA executive director Nancy Hobbs and director of online marketing Richard Bolt, just prior to the start of the Cranmore Hill Climb July 21st in North Conway, NH.
She competed in the Blue Hills Blaster, Thursday, July 18th winning her age group and earning 55.40 points to lead the series!   Congrat’s Laurel!!!
At Cranmore,  Ken Skier told me that he hopes to do the rest of the races in the series…good luck Ken!

Next race is the Hacker's Hill Climb on August 8th in Casco, ME

Changed my email to mtnrunr@comcast.net

I just changed my email from wildxc@comcast.net to mtnrunr@comcast.net . Send me your results to mtnrunr@comcast.net Thanks!

The Series

The following is a series I’m in the process of creating. If it interests you please email with your thoughts. I’m not good with computers and am just now trying to create a blog. Stay tuned… In the meantime, email me your results from any of the races listed and I’ll calculate standings.
  Northeast Uphill Mountain Series
This series is open to one and all. All the races are already being put on by the various race directors and organizations. So you must contact them to enter their race. To be included in the series you must send me (wildxc@comcast.net) your results and make a $10 donation to the USA Mountain Running Team by September 13, 2013. The reason for this is that I want to help defray each runner’s personal expenses, as they are  representing the United States and spending some of their own money to do so!.  I am volunteering my time to do this and have sent a $100 donation myself to ATRA. Thanks for your support!!!

Scoring: Winner receives 100 points. Your time will be divided by the winners to determine yours. Men & Women scored of f  whomever wins.  Your best  4 races points will be added up to determine placing in the series.
The first  2 races are coming up very soon and on Thursday night’s Therefore these 2 won’t count for you to be considered a “Mountain Goat” . For that  statis, you’ll have to complete all the rest.
The Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race  will serve as the final event. It will be counted for you if you get into it. Results will be calculated after that and be available on coolrunning.
As I am just now trying to put this together, there may be some changes? I will also try to get shirts donated to the “Mountain Goats” that complete all the races J    Maybe more???
