Jeff Gould and Donna Smyth have won the 3rd Northeast Uphill Mountain Series!

Congratulations Jeff & Donna and thanks to Bob Fitzgerald, of New England Runner magazine for presenting Jeff and Donna with their awards...thank you Bob!

Winners are based on combined points from their 4 best races. Everyone scored their lowest points at the Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race thanks to Joe Gray's amazing run with a time of 58:17! Congratulations Joe!

Jeff total'd 324.26 and Donna 280.91. Finishing 2nd was Len Hall with 309.04 and Laurel Shortell with 104.60. 3rd place male was Bob Mulvaney with 286.81 but unfortunately there were no other women this year.

Prize money is awarded for the top 3 male and female finishers thanks to my local running club the Red Clover Rovers! 1st is $75, 2nd $50 and 3rd $25.

I'm proud to announce that Jeff, Len, Donna, Walter Kuklinski and I completed all 5 of the races and attained Mountain Goat status, thus earning lottery by-passes into the 2017 Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race! Each will also receive a custom certificate, proclaiming this, suitable for framing. Congratulations and thanks so much for your support!

Ascutney Mountain Run

3rd series, race #4

We had a great day for the race! Not very cold but very windy up top. Raina White, and her team of Great Volunteers, did another outstanding job...thank you so very much!

Winning was Turner Zamore in 30:51.2 with Jeff Gould as our first finisher in 38:02.5 followed by Len Hall in 41:23.0, Bob Mulvaney in 43:12.7, Donna Smyth in 44:26.4, John Kowalski in 49:19.7, myself in 51:59.2 and Walter Kuklinski in 55:54.1

Prospect Mountain Road Race

3rd Series, race #3

I thought the Prospect Mountain Road Race was really nice! If you haven't run it before I'd highly recommend it! The road to the summit hadn't opened for the season yet so no traffic to deal with. There are great views from the open summit where you finish. The parking area is a short ways down from the summit, where someone helping you can park and walk up. A plus was great weather on race day!

I was sad to hear from Laurel Shortell that she is taking a break from racing so won't be continuing with us. I credit Laurel with the success for the series, without her dedication it would most likely not have continued...thank you so much Laurel!

Also, Dennis Gilyard was injured and could not run, wishing Dennis a speedy recovery!

John Kowalski wasn't at the race either. That leaves Jeff, Len, Donna, Walter & I as the only possible Mountain Goats.

Len was 2nd 60-64.
